A Leader Takes People Places…

8 03 2010

Where are you taking your group?

If you struggle with answering that question, here are 4 steps you can take to help:

  1. Pray – Ask God what you ought to do with the people he’s placed under your leadership and care. Write down any ideas you have while praying.
  2. Grow – Consider what area you need to grow in your discipleship. Inviting your group to grow with you will help them grow as well.
  3. Reflect – Think about what you know of your group members, and ask yourself how you could lead them to better know and respond to God’s grace?
  4. Explore – Search through the themes and resources on this website – especially our newly updated Featured Resources on the right – and choose something you could use to lead your group towards greater commitment to Jesus.

Is It Working?

23 09 2009

We want to hear from you!

We have had close to 700 visits to this site since we launched it last month. Is it working? Our greatest hope is to serve those of you who are leading on the line. Would you take a moment and let us know if you’ve used anything from the site and tell us your thoughts. We want to hear them. You can leave a comment at the bottom of most of the pages. This site, like life, is a constant work in progress.

As the Community Life Team, let’s work together to serve one another. Mark Pickerill calls it “producing wins for one another.” You can help produce some wins by giving us your feedback.

And always remember that your community life pastor is willing and able to collaborate with you to develop the best plan for spiritual formation in your group.

We look forward to hearing from you!

You Need A Plan!

1 08 2009

Every leader needs a plan!

Life groups help us build relationships.  And relationships are important, but a group needs more than that.  As the leader, you need resources that focus your group towards living a life of greater commitment to Jesus.

So, we want to help you make a spiritual formation plan to use with your group.  Spiritual Formation is simply the process of living more committed to Jesus.

On this site you will find books, articles, curriculum, media and exercises that will help you discover and experience 12 Themes of Spiritual Formation.

Follow these steps:

  1. Click on the tab above for the kind of resource are you looking for.
  • Articles, Media and Exercises are short term resources (1-2 weeks).
  • Curriculum usually last 6-8 weeks.
  • Books make a good long term plan (10-12 weeks).

  1. Click on the theme of your choice.  You may want a curriculum on character, or a book on evangelism or an exercise that helps you know one another better.
  2. Download or otherwise obtain the resource and make a plan to incorporate it in your life group.  Each resource comes with suggestions on how to do that.

If you want help, contact a Community Life Pastor who can help you put your plan into action. (lifegroups@caeaglerock.com)
